Critical Illness Claim - "It meant we did not have to worry about the loss of one wage."
posted 23rd April 2019
This is the personal story of David from Glasgow, after his wife's diagnosis of cancer:
I took out the policy as I felt it important to have protection for my family.
I read reviews of various companies who provide cover and Vita came out as the best in terms of level of cover, cost and claims. Like all insurance it's good to have but we hoped we'd never need to claim.
The advisor who I initially contacted, Philip Smith, was excellent. There was no pressure sales. He listened and understood what we wanted and explained the process. He kept in contact throughout and was a credit to Vita. If Philip is still with Vita please pass on our regards.
My wife was diagnosed with cancer in 2014 and we went through so much during the treatment. The illness was the reason we claimed. Having the policy was a huge help as it gave us peace of mind. My wife had to give up work so we had the claim to help us. It meant that we did not have to worry about the loss of one wage.
Without the cover thus would have put us under financial pressure and put huge stress on an already horrendous situation.
A while after diagnosis I contacted Philip at Vita and advised him of my wife's illness. Philip was very understanding and helpful. He talked us through what would be done. He kept in touch throughout the claim process.
If anyone is thinking of taking out a critical illness policy I would advise they should consider it. The reviews of Vita are correct...they are a great company to take a policy out with. The cover offered represents great value for money.
Cancer is a horrible disease. Unfortunately Allison's cancer has come back and we are again going back to hospital for treatment.
